Scott B. Sanders
Scott B. Sanders has been the Executive Director of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) since 2014. In this role, Scott manages NASWA as it represents the 50 state and three territory workforce agencies and assists in coordination of program activities that help individuals become re-employed.
Previously, Scott served as the Commissioner for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD). As the Commissioner, Scott was instrumental in implementing Jobs for Hoosiers (helping unemployed individuals return to work faster) and launching a modernized computer system that integrated benefits, tax and appeals. Also at the DWD, he managed training and employment programs under Governors Michael Pence and Mitchell Daniels.
Prior to serving at the Indiana DWD, Scott worked for more than 10 years as a finance executive in the private sector. He was President and CFO at First Commonwealth, Inc., a managed health care company, based in Chicago, IL. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University and his master’s in business administration from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
