Janet LaBreck is a nationally recognized senior executive and presenter with over 20 years of leadership supporting people with disabilities. Between 2013 and early-2017 she served as Commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) within the U.S. Department of Education. As the RSA Commissioner, Janet led the agencies responsible for providing vocational rehabilitation services (VR) to individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and integration into the community and workforce.
Under her RSA leadership, Janet designed strategies for implementing Federal regulations under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The passage of WIOA—a bipartisan and bicameral effort—marked the most significant reform of the Federal adult education and workforce development system in over a decade.
Previously, Janet served as Commissioner for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) where she rose through the ranks during nearly 30 years of employment. Although Janet lost her vision by the age of ten, she has never let her disability get in the way of her dreams.
